      The Big Agnes Campmeister Deluxe is a high-performance sleeping mat built for cold-weather comfort and serious expedition use. With an R-value of 7 and PrimaLoft® Silver Insulation, it delivers excellent thermal performance, making it a dependable choice for deep winter conditions.

      We tested the Campmeister Deluxe during a recent expedition to Finland, where we camped directly on the ice of Lake Inari in temperatures that dropped to -20°C. Despite the extreme cold and sleeping on bare ice, the mat provided consistent warmth and insulation throughout the night, proving its effectiveness in demanding environments.

      Comfort is another strong point. The quilted top, made from a lightweight and stretchy nylon-spandex fabric, feels soft and slightly contoured, adding a touch of luxury rarely found in cold-weather gear. The high-volume dual valve made inflating and deflating the mat quick and straightforward — even with gloved hands in freezing conditions.

      While it is on the heavier side, this is a mat designed for performance, not minimalism. For dedicated winter camping or expedition use, where staying warm and well-rested is essential, the weight is more than justified. The Campmeister Deluxe strikes an excellent balance between comfort, warmth, and reliability in extreme environments.
