Smidge is an insect repellent developed by a team of experienced entomologists based in Dundee, Scotland. Leveraging their extensive background in biting midge and mosquito research, the team continues to conduct studies aimed at understanding insect behaviour and developing more effective control methods. With access to unique field sites across Scotland, they are well-equipped to study midges and ticks in their natural habitats.

Smidge contains 20% Saltidin® (Picaridin or Icaridin) and provides up to 8 hours of safe and effective protection against a variety of biting insects, including midges, mosquitoes, horseflies, ticks, and sandflies. Smidge works by blocking the antennal receptors of these insects, making it difficult for them to locate you. If they do land, Smidge makes you unappealing to the insects, deterring them from feeding. Additionally, Smidge moisturises your skin and is water and sweat resistant, making it ideal for use in both the damp Scottish Highlands and humid tropical climates.

Smidge's formulation, which includes Hexyl Cinnamal, Limonene, and Linalool, is as effective as DEET but much kinder to the skin. It does not leave a sticky residue and will not damage plastic or metal, making it particularly suitable for protecting expensive outdoor sports equipment, including climbing gear and ropes.
