HERITAGE IS THE CULTURE, PEOPLE, AND COUNTRY THAT SHAPED SUUNTO.

Suunto was founded over 80 years ago by Finnish adventurer Tuomas Vohlonen. In 1936, frustrated with existing technology and battling Arctic conditions, he invented a liquid-filled compass with a steadier, more accurate needle. A true revolutionary, he was never lost.

RELIABILITY AND DURABILITY

Finland challenges us, just as we challenge our products. Our cold, dark landscapes push us to our limits, and we love it. That's why we put our products to the test in the harshest conditions. If they can withstand Finland, they’re built to withstand anything. For over 80 years, we’ve been relentlessly refining our technology, ensuring we create products you can trust in even the most extreme conditions. In fact, it’s precisely in those toughest moments that they truly shine.

ACCURACY AND PRECISION

Before we released our first dive computer in 1987, divers had to rely on dive tables to calculate times – a process that wasn’t easy, safe, or fun. So, we created the Suunto SME-ML and revolutionised the sport. Some decisions need to be made quickly and under pressure. The Suunto Vector, with its simplified functionality and iconic design, has made climbing at altitude safer since 1998. It’s likely seen more of the Himalayas than any other watch.

DOING RIGHT FOR THE PLANET

From thriving oceans and wild rivers to glaciated peaks, every species – big or small – relies on the web of life. At Suunto, our community of divers and outdoor enthusiasts understands that there’s no adventure without it. Protecting our playground is a responsibility we all share.

We may not be perfect, but we are committed to doing better.

We use 100% renewable energy at our factory and HQ in Finland, resulting in minimal emissions from our operations since 2021.

To understand the climate impact of our products, we calculate the lifetime carbon footprint of new watches through life cycle assessments and offset the emissions identified.

We are committed to minimizing our impact by using better materials in our products and packaging, improving production processes, and encouraging our community to make more sustainable choices in their everyday lives.
