QUICKFIRE Q+A
What first drew you to the outdoors, and how has that passion developed over the years?
I came from a background of road and track cycling racing, where I raced nationally. After leaving the sport of 5 years, I felt extremely lost and was searching for something with more meaning I guess. I began heading to my local woods to build camps and fires which bought a lot of happiness from doing these wholesome activities.
Has there been a moment where you felt completely awestruck or taken by surprise?
Each time I see a sunrise or sunset never gets old, being anywhere that’s beautiful in nature and always stumbling across nature when out on a trip brings me so much joy.
What adventure has shaped you the most and why?
West Highland Way & hitch hiking around Scotland when I was 18. It was my first thru hike and made me realise how much I loved travelling by foot, as well as my love for Scotland. I met so many wonderful people with amazing stories and generosity . This changed my perspective on multiple different things in life and gave me direction.
Iceland Traverse / Silk Road Mountain Race - they were extremely challenging trips that tested me mentally, physically and emotionally. I honestly didn't think I'd have the capability to do either of these trips, so to achieve both of these gave me so much confidence in my ability.
