For midweek dawn patrols, all-night approaches, or just big climbing objectives that push beyond daylight, the Black Diamond Spot 400 R has 400 lumens of power, now housed in a smaller, more efficient design. With a compact body, the Spot 400 features a low profile for better balance and is more ergonomic for added comfort. The user interface also has a second switch for easy lens mode selection. Powered by our BD 1500 Li-ion battery that’s charged by a micro USB, the Spot 400 R also features a sustainably made elastic headband with recycled textiles.

The Black Diamond Spot 400-R headlamp is a solid choice if you're looking for something that delivers on power without being too bulky. 400 lumens is more than enough for hiking, camping, or even night running. We love that it’s rechargeable—you don’t have to keep buying batteries, which is a huge plus for anyone trying to cut down on waste. Plus, the USB charging is convenient and works well on the go.
The IP67 waterproof rating means you don't have to worry if it starts raining or if out in wet conditions. It’s built tough. The beam is adjustable, and the multiple light modes (like dimming and red light) are nice for different situations. You can dial it down when you don't need a super bright beam, and the red light is great for preserving night vision.
One thing to note is that, while the headlamp is good for most activities, if you're doing something more technical or high-output (like alpine climbing or mountaineering), you might want a headlamp with more power and a more focused beam. But for just about everything else, this is a great option that balances weight, power, and rechargeability. -
