The Inside: The interior is a roomy 18 sq. feet (1.70 sq. m) so you can stretch out in camp. It easily accommodates a modern wide sleeping pad thanks to the true rectangular floor. The tent body is a mix of mesh and solid fabric for the perfect blend of breathability and privacy. The no-curve tent door features zippers that are easy to use with one hand. They also zip closed to a single point so you always know where to open the door, even in the dark. Tech-friendly pockets feature cable ports at the corners for headphones and charging cords. what we think
The MSR Elixir 1 is a reliable solo tent known for its solid build quality and ease of use. At Valley and Peak, we appreciate how it balances comfort and practicality, making it a good choice for UK walkers and backpackers looking for dependable shelter in typical three-season conditions.
The tent’s double-wall construction helps manage condensation well, which is important given the UK’s often damp and changeable weather. The mesh inner offers good ventilation, while the full-coverage rainfly provides effective protection against rain and moderate wind.
Inside, the Elixir 1 feels spacious for a one-person tent, comfortably fitting a sleeping mat and kit with some room to move. The vestibule offers useful space to store boots and gear out of the way but sheltered.
Setup is straightforward thanks to colour-coded poles and clips, allowing for quick pitching even in less favourable weather. While it is sturdy and reliable, the Elixir 1 is not designed for harsh or extreme conditions, so it’s best suited for standard three-season use.
In summary, the MSR Elixir 1 offers a dependable and comfortable shelter for solo adventurers in typical UK weather. It’s a trusted option for those prioritising ease of use and comfort over heavy-duty weather resistance. -
reviews
"Supper great so far I love for how small it is for canoeing and more"
"Very nice tent I purchased this tent for bike touring and backpacking. After extensive research I felt that this tent was the best quality that fit my budget. I like the extra setup options that are available such as the fast fly footprint setup and also the availability of adding the gear shed if desired. The activities that I will be using it for will be more recreational so I can live with carrying an extra pound of weight since it's a quality shelter. It is very easy to set up. I've only used it in the field one night so far, and it performed well."
"I love it! Not the lightest for a single man tent, but it has a smart design with plenty of room for a tall guy like me and a spacious vestibule. It appears to be well built and I expect it will last for a long time." -
