  • What we think

The Hyperion sleeping bag has become one of our go-to pieces of gear for three-season camping. One of its smartest design features is the reduced insulation on the base—just 30%—which makes sense since the underside is compressed when you sleep, reducing its effectiveness anyway. To keep the warmest part of the bag on top, there are two ribbons that loop around your sleeping mat, which works surprisingly well and keeps everything in place all night.

The 900-fill-power Responsible Down Standard-certified Nikwax Hydrophobic Down is seriously impressive. It’s incredibly light yet retains warmth effectively, even in damp conditions. The box-wall construction and the DWR-treated 10D nylon ripstop shell give the bag a premium feel; the silky-soft fabric is a nice touch, especially after a long day outdoors.

We’ve found the temperature ratings to be pretty spot-on. With a comfort rating of 5°C and a limit of 0°C, it’s ideal for most of my trips. If you sleep warm, it can even handle milder winter conditions. At just 453g, it’s ridiculously lightweight for what it offers, and it doesn’t feel like I’m sacrificing comfort or warmth for the sake of weight savings.

Overall, the Hyperion strikes a great balance between being lightweight, functional, and luxurious. It’s definitely worth considering if you’re looking for a three-season bag that performs exceptionally well without weighing down your pack.
