Big Agnes Blacktail Hotel 2 Person Backpacking Tent
THREE SEASON, FREESTANDING, BACKPACKING TENT WITH EXTENDED VESTIBULE
Weighing 2520g, the Blacktail series remains as one of Big Agnes' longest-running tent series - a tried and true shelter with excellent value for backpackers who want a super comfortable tent to bring on the trail. The Blacktail Hotel features a massive, side-entry vestibule attached to the fly for bikes, climbing gear, or your best furry friend.
Double doors, a simplified symmetrical pole structure, and additional dry storage make backcountry trips with a smelly partner−or three−more comfortable than you may have thought possible. To extend the life of your tent floor we recommend using a Big Agnes footprint - sold separately.

REVIEWS
"Overall this tent has been great. It's kept me dry and comfortable. It works (with the rain fly) quite well in most weather conditions. Albeit I've really only used this in rain/sunshine, no winter experience with it."
"That tent has everything that I want and need. Nice space inside. What I enjoy the most is the hotel part of the cover. You can stock a lot and not having your backpack inside is just nice to have the extra space."
"Great affordable tent. Nice to have space for dogs/cooking in the massive vestibule. Small enough to be backpacked with but roomy." -
WHAT WE THINK
This tent offers a great mix of comfort, space, and functionality without weighing you down. It’s not ultralight, but the added room and features make it well worth the slight weight increase, especially for those looking for a bit more comfort on the trail.
Setting up the Blacktail Hotel is straightforward, thanks to the color-coded poles and simple clip system. It takes only a few minutes to get the tent up, and it stands up well in both rain and wind. The rainfly provides full coverage, keeping you dry during storms, while the mesh panels allow for great ventilation, reducing condensation on warmer nights. We’ve used it in a variety of conditions, and it has performed well across the board.
That said, one downside we’ve noticed is the lack of interior pockets. While the tent is spacious, the absence of extra storage compartments inside can make it harder to keep things organised, especially on longer trips. You’ll need to rely on your gear in the vestibules or hang things from the gear loft (if you choose to use one), but a few extra mesh pockets or loops inside the tent would be a welcome addition to help keep small items within easy reach.
Overall, the Big Agnes Blacktail Hotel 2 Person Backpacking Tent is a great choice for those looking for a spacious, weather-resistant, and comfortable shelter. It’s ideal for couple’s trips or two-person backpacking and offers a nice balance of comfort and functionality. If you’re after a tent that’s easy to set up, roomy inside, and keeps you dry and comfortable, the Blacktail Hotel is definitely worth considering—just don’t forget your gear organisation strategies. -
