REVIEWS
"Sets up easily and love the design of it. Use it when camping out at spots to rock climb. Not too bad to strap on to a backpack and hike with. Love the front flap and it’s got great space in there"
"Compact and light enough to fit on my motorcycle. Big enough to accommodate dragging gear inside." -
WHAT WE THINK
At Valley and Peak, we recently had the chance to test the Crag Lake SL 2 Person Backpacking Tent, and we were really impressed with how it balances lightweight design, durability, and comfort. If you’re someone who enjoys longer backpacking trips and is looking for a tent that provides great protection without the heavy pack, the Crag Lake SL is a solid choice.
One of the things we really appreciate about the Crag Lake SL is its spacious feel for a two-person tent. While it’s certainly compact and easy to pack, it doesn’t sacrifice interior space. There’s enough room to sit up comfortably, and you can fit your gear inside without feeling cramped. The dual doors and two vestibules are a great touch, providing easy access and extra space to store gear outside the tent but still keep it safe from the elements.
The Crag Lake SL is certainly not the heaviest tent out there, but it does weigh a little more than some of the ultralight models on the market. This could be a consideration if you’re aiming to shave every ounce from your pack for long-distance hikes or multi-day trips where every gram counts. If you don’t mind a few extra grams for the added durability and comfort, though, it’s still a great choice.
Overall, the Crag Lake SL 2 Person Backpacking Tent is a reliable, well-built shelter that provides excellent protection, decent ventilation, and a comfortable living space for two people. While it might not be the lightest option on the market, it strikes a nice balance between weight and comfort, making it an excellent choice for three-season backpacking trips. If you’re looking for a durable, easy-to-pitch tent that performs well in a variety of weather conditions, the Crag Lake SL is definitely worth considering. -
