REVIEWS
"Sometimes comfort trumps weight, and while the Mica Basin Chair from Big Agnes might not be the lightest, it sure beats the hell out of sitting on a stump any day. With a luxurious 22-inch-wide seat, pre-bent poles for superior weight distribution, and a 300-pound capacity, this chair is a great choice for taller and heavier folks or those who just prefer a dependable chair while backpacking."
"I enjoyed the wide seat, which just made hanging at camp more comfortable overall. With the Mica Basin, you don’t have to lower yourself into a short, small seat. But rather, you can sit up tall and comfortably next to a table cooking dinner." -
WHAT WE THINK
The Big Agnes Mica Basin Camp Chair turned out to be a real highlight on our recent trip to the Highlands.
The chair is surprisingly lightweight for how sturdy and supportive it is, and it packs down small enough to easily fit into a backpack without taking up too much space. Setting it up is simple—just a couple of poles to slide together, and you’re good to go.
Once settled in, the chair is a lot more comfortable than you'd expect from something so compact. The mesh fabric is breathable, so even on warmer days, it doesn’t get too hot or sweaty. The low seating position is perfect for kicking back and stretching out, making it ideal for lounging after a long hike. However, getting in and out of it can be a bit tricky after a full day on the trail, especially if you’ve got any knee or back issues. It's not the easiest chair to get up from, so that’s something to keep in mind.
Overall, the Big Agnes Mica Basin Camp Chair is a great option for anyone who values comfort and relaxation at camp. While it’s a little heavier than some other chairs, it delivers a lot in terms of comfort and durability, making it well worth considering for those who want a reliable chair to kick back in after a long day of exploring. -
