“Excellent product..... Good quality.... easy to assemble and disassemble.”
“Really good chair, well made, easy to use, and light”
“This is a great camping chair it is incredibly lightweight and stable. It packs easily into its case that can mount on the outside of you're pack with the included rails or go inside if you have the space. I've used it while backpacking and car camping and it performs well after a long day of walking or around the campfire. I would recommend it.” -
what we think
On our recent team camping trip to the Peak District, the Helinox Chair One (re) quickly became a standout piece of gear. Helinox has redesigned this classic camp chair with what they call the ‘ReTension Design’ - a secondary tension line that helps distribute your weight more evenly across the frame. The result? Noticeably better comfort, especially after long days on the trail.
One of the most welcome upgrades is the chair’s height. If you’ve ever tried the earlier version, you’ll remember how low it sat to the ground - not always ideal after a tough hike when you just want a proper seat. This new model sits about three inches taller, which makes getting in and out much easier.
They’ve also widened the seat by 2.5 inches, giving you more room to settle in and adding extra stability when you’re on uneven terrain - a real bonus when we were perched on rocky ground by the lakeside. Despite the size increase, Helinox has managed to cut down manufacturing waste by 30%, which makes this upgrade even more impressive.
The Chair One (re) also brings some thoughtful new features: an integrated mesh side pocket that’s perfect for keeping essentials like a headlamp close by, and a revamped carry bag with a full double zip, daisy chain, and webbing handle. Packing up and carrying the chair is a breeze.
Like the original, the seat is made from breathable 600D polyester with mesh panels for ventilation - no more sweaty backsides on warm summer days. It’s a touch heavier than its predecessor, but at just 1kg, it’s still incredibly light and packs down to roughly the size of a pencil case.
With a load capacity of 145kg and an unbeatable strength-to-weight ratio, this chair remains one of the best out there. We can’t wait to take it out on more adventures. -
