STRONG, REMARKABLY LIGHT, EXPEDITION READY SOLO TENT: MEET THE HILLEBERG SOULO

The Soulo BL is Hilleberg’s strongest one-person tent, built to take on the most demanding terrain, weather, and expeditions in all seasons. Remarkably roomy, easy to pitch and highly versatile, the Soulo BL is fully freestanding with a single integrated vestibule.

Like all Black Label tents, it has 10 mm poles and Kerlon 1800 outer tent fabric, and its multiple pole-crossing construction has purpose-built guy line placement and attachment points to handle high winds and snow. The Soulo BL’s strength is perfect for mountaineers, alpine climbers and ski mountaineers, ski tourers and winter backpackers, solo expeditions and anyone traveling in remote places where harsh weather is common.

And its fully freestanding structure and compact footprint is ideal for tough pitching conditions, whether that’s knife edge ridges, rugged mountain terrain, rocky shores, or urban sites.

Choose the Soulo BL if you simply want the absolute strongest, most robust Hilleberg solo tent.

Did you know? Soulo means “island,” in Sami, the language of the people indigenous to northern Scandinavia.

KEY FEATURES OF THE HILLEBERG SOULO BLACK LABEL

  • Kerlon 1800 outer tent fabric and 10 mm poles make for an exceptionally strong and stable tent.

  • All-season construction: outer tent walls extend to the ground and mesh areas are backed with adjustable fabric panels.

  • Dome construction with multiple pole crossing points provide outstanding snow-load handling capability.

  • The Soulo BL has plenty of room for one occupant and his or her gear.

  • Linked but separable inner and outer tent for simultaneous pitching.

  • Fully freestanding dome design requires no pegs for pitching, and the straightforward short sleeve and clip pole system make for quick, easy set up.

  • The single entrance/single vestibule configuration affords easy access as well as storage space.

  • An optional footprint covers the entire area of the outer tent, including the vestibule. It connects directly to the tent, and can be left attached during pitching.

  • The inner tent can be replaced with the Soulo/Soulo BL Mesh Inner tent.

The outer and inner tents can be used separately. Pitching the inner tent alone requires the optional Soulo/Soulo BL pitching kit.

  • what we think

At Valley and Peak, Dan has put the Hilleberg Soulo Black Label through its paces on numerous winter wild camping trips, including challenging conditions in the Cairngorms, Snowdonia, and Arctic Sweden. The Soulo Black Label has consistently impressed with its exceptional strength, reliability, and performance in tough weather.

The Soulo Black Label is a fully freestanding, one-person tent that offers all the features of the Soulo Red Label but with even more durability and extreme weather capabilities. One standout feature is its 10mm DAC poles, which are thicker and stronger than those found in other models. These upgraded poles provide superior stability, making the Soulo Black Label highly capable in extreme conditions like high winds, heavy snow, and freezing temperatures. The tent also features the upgraded Kerlon 1800 fabric, ensuring exceptional strength and weather resistance.

While the tent is a bit heavier than the Red Label version, the weight is entirely justifiable for a winter tent of this strength. The Soulo Black Label is designed to withstand harsh weather conditions, making it the perfect choice for serious winter adventurers who need a shelter that can handle everything the elements throw at them.

The Soulo Black Label also has a small vestibule, offering just enough space to store gear and cook in protected conditions, while keeping the tent compact and lightweight for a solo shelter. Its single entrance makes it easy to access and provides quick access to the vestibule.

Dan has used the Soulo Black Label on demanding trips, including in the Cairngorms, where high winds and heavy snow are common, and in Arctic Sweden, where the frigid conditions truly tested its limits. The tent's performance in these environments has been exceptional, providing a stable and secure shelter with no issues with setup or durability. Its ease of pitching, even in exposed conditions, and its ability to stand up to harsh winter weather make it a go-to choice for Dan on his winter wild camps.

For anyone looking for a reliable, rugged, and lightweight winter shelter that can withstand the harshest conditions, the Hilleberg Soulo Black Label is highly recommended. With its 10mm DAC poles, robust construction, and trusted performance, it offers dependable protection for solo adventurers in extreme winter conditions.
