"Fits well, the air vents help breath easily when conducting strenuous activities without fogging up goggles, it keeps me pleasant and warm. I love it"

"This is the one. Most every balaclava I've used (including the quite expensive dead bird) gives me hotspots in different corners of the face or under my helmet, or impacts goggles & glasses to fog up. This one's light, warm, and breathes really well with the nose cut out. Also great coverage up around the eyes with the nose bridge. The only thing missing for me is it's not quite flexible enough to open up under my chin to talk to folks face to face - make that happen and it's the last one I'll use."

  • what we think

We recently had the opportunity to test the Gorilla GORE-TEX INFINIUM Balaclava, and our very own Dan put it through its paces during a tough crossing of Finmark in Norway. Known for its rugged terrain and unpredictable weather, Finmark was the perfect backdrop to see how this balaclava holds up under extreme conditions.

The first thing that stood out was its ability to block the wind. The GORE-TEX INFINIUM fabric does a fantastic job of providing windproof protection while remaining breathable, ensuring Dan stayed comfortable even during long stretches of harsh, biting wind. Despite the cold temperatures, the balaclava allowed for moisture-wicking and breathability, meaning there was no uncomfortable overheating

However, there was one notable downside: the balaclava did soak up some moisture, which ultimately resulted in it freezing solid in the cold temperatures. While it remained effective at blocking wind, this issue did affect its overall comfort, as the frozen material was quite stiff and less flexible.

By the end of Dan’s crossing, the Gorilla GORE-TEX INFINIUM Balaclava had proven to be a solid piece of gear, providing essential wind protection. While the freezing of moisture was a drawback in the extreme cold, it still stands as a reliable option for those needing high-performance gear in cold and windy conditions. Whether you’re skiing, snowboarding, or trekking through arctic environments like Dan, this balaclava is worth considering – just be aware of its potential to freeze up in severe cold.
