We were particularly attracted to the Sierra Designs range of zipperless sleeping bags. For those who didn't want to make the jump from a sleeping bag to a Valley and Peak Quilt the Cloud 800 offers an excellent half way house. Plus the innovative features, like all Sierra Design products, bring great benefits to the user. Finally Sierra Designs has an excellent traceability policy, all products containing Down have a tag which can tell you where the Down came from and details on responsible sourcing are outlined in great detail.

      The Sierra Designs Cloud 20 is a distinctive and innovative sleeping bag built for comfort and freedom of movement. With 800 fill hydrophobic down and a clever zipperless design it is aimed at lightweight backpackers and wild campers who want warmth and performance without the weight of a traditional bag.

      At Valley and Peak we have used the Cloud 20 for cowboy camping in the Peak District where its open and easy-access design came into its own. The overlapping flap system replaces a zip making it quick to get in and out of while still keeping heat in when temperatures drop. It offers a more natural sleeping position than most mummy bags making it ideal for side sleepers and anyone who tends to shift around during the night.

      The bag performs well in cool UK conditions and is suitable for most three-season use. It includes a self-sealing foot vent which adds flexibility on milder nights and helps regulate temperature without needing to open the whole bag.

      While it may not appeal to those who prefer the full enclosure of a zipped bag the Cloud 20 is an excellent choice for minimalist trips bivy camping and open-air nights under the stars.

      Overall the Sierra Designs Cloud 20 is a warm comfortable and well-designed option for backpackers and wild campers looking for a lightweight sleep system that performs reliably across a wide range of UK conditions.
