  • WHAT WE THINK

    The Big Agnes Gold Camp 5 Footprint is a handy addition to the Gold Camp 5 Tarp setup, providing extra protection for the groundsheet, particularly if you're camping on rough or rocky terrain. We used it during a weekend trip in the Scottish Highlands, and it definitely added some peace of mind. The footprint is lightweight and easy to pack, which is key when you're trying to keep your load down, but it offers a good layer of protection against sharp rocks, sticks, and moisture from the ground.

    That said, it’s not absolutely necessary if you’re camping on fairly smooth, soft ground. It does add a bit of weight, and while it offers protection, it doesn't drastically change the setup. If you're already being mindful of your pack weight, the footprint might feel a bit like an extra expense or an unnecessary addition.

    Overall, the Gold Camp 5 Footprint is a worthwhile investment if you want to protect your shelter and extend its lifespan, especially if you’re planning on using it regularly on rocky or uneven ground.
