REVIEWS
"Sets up easily and love the design of it. Use it when camping out at spots to rock climb. Not too bad to strap on to a backpack and hike with. Love the front flap and it’s got great space in there"
"Compact and light enough to fit on my motorcycle. Big enough to accommodate dragging gear inside." -
WHAT WE THINK
The Big Agnes Crag Lake SL 2 is a lightweight, semi-freestanding tent aimed at backpackers and weekend adventurers who want solid performance without the higher price tag of more premium models. At Valley and Peak, we see it as a well-designed option for those looking to strike a balance between weight, space and affordability.
Pitching is straightforward, especially if you’re familiar with semi-freestanding designs, though it does benefit from careful pegging for full stability. Once set up, the interior offers good headroom and sleeping space for two people, with dual doors and vestibules adding convenience and storage.
The materials are slightly more robust than ultralight models, which means it can handle a bit more rough ground or weather exposure without needing too much babying. However, it’s still a three-season tent, so it’s best suited to spring through autumn use in typical UK conditions. Ventilation is decent, though in very damp or muggy conditions, a bit of condensation is to be expected.
At its price point, the Crag Lake SL 2 punches above its weight. It's not as spacious or as light as some of the higher-end options, but for those wanting a reliable, lighter tent for general backpacking or multi-day hikes, it’s a great entry into the Big Agnes lineup. -
