Secure and protective, TX5 GTX is waterproof and breathable thanks to the use of the GORE-TEX Extended Comfort membrane and extremely comfortable thanks to the soft Nubuck leather uppers enriched with the all-round protective rubber, abrasion resistant rand and toe cap.
The high cuff protects against stones and mud while the 3D Flex System allows for maximum precision on holds and freedom of movement in complete safety, while the underfoot stabiliser makes the shoe ideal for extended use.
The outsole uses Vibram MegaGrip compound with differentiated lugs and Impact Brake System for enhanced shock absorption and hold on all types of terrain. This shoe is the ideal choice for both hikers and general mountain enthusiasts.

The La Sportiva TX5 GTX is a rugged and reliable walking boot designed for technical terrain, offering a blend of lightweight agility and solid protection. At Valley and Peak, we recommend it to walkers, scramblers and backpackers who need confidence underfoot on rough trails, rocky ground and changeable UK conditions.
Built with a GORE-TEX waterproof membrane, the TX5 keeps your feet dry in wet and muddy environments while still allowing for decent breathability on warmer days. The leather upper is tough and supportive, with a rubber toe rand and high sidewalls that give extra protection in scree and loose terrain. Despite the robust build, it remains surprisingly agile and flexible underfoot, which makes it comfortable over long distances.
The Vibram outsole offers excellent grip on mixed ground including wet rock, loose gravel and forest paths. The lug pattern is well thought out, shedding mud efficiently and offering good traction across a range of surfaces. The lacing system allows for a close, secure fit right down to the toe, which helps with precision on uneven or technical ground.
Comfort-wise, the TX5 is well cushioned for a boot in this category and performs well on longer hikes or multi-day treks. It may feel a little stiff out of the box but breaks in fairly quickly. For walkers used to softer trail shoes, it might initially feel quite firm, but the trade-off is excellent support and protection when the terrain gets more demanding.
