WHAT WE THINK
The Big Agnes Gold Camp UL3 Footprint is a useful addition if you're pairing it with the Gold Camp UL3 Tarp for extra ground protection. We took it along on a recent trip to the Peak District, and it definitely helped safeguard the tarp's underside against rough or rocky ground. The footprint adds a layer of protection from sharp objects like rocks, sticks, or even moisture from the ground—particularly useful in the wetter conditions we sometimes get in the UK.
It’s incredibly lightweight and packs down small, so it doesn’t add much bulk to your setup. That said, it does provide extra comfort, particularly if you're camping on uneven or more rugged terrain. The footprint also helps keep the area under the tarp cleaner, which is a bonus if you're camping in mud or on damp ground.
Overall, the Gold Camp UL3 Footprint is a handy addition for anyone looking to prolong the life of their tarp and add some extra protection, especially when camping in rougher or wetter conditions.
