Yet, when it comes to functionality, it is every bit an equal. With two stable side struts, it is suitable for all ORTLIEB panniers, making it extremely flexible. In no time at all, your minimalist and lightweight bike becomes a practical helper for everyday activities like shopping or commuting. In just 15 seconds you can assemble the Quick Rack Light and then remove it again in a mere 5 seconds. The struts with a 10 mm diameter carry up to 20 kg of luggage.

I tested the Ortlieb Quick Rack on a mixed-terrain overnighter and was impressed by how easy it is to mount and remove. Instead of bolting on, it uses quick-release levers that hook onto small rack pegs at the dropouts - minimal, secure, and rattle-free. The upper mount uses a single strut with a seatpost strap that’s dropper-friendly and adjustable, though it takes a bit of tweaking to get right. The rack also offers two pannier positions: a high rail and a lower, rear-tilted one for better heel clearance and stability. Overall, it’s a solid, versatile rack that suits both daily rides and light bikepacking trips.
