FEATURES OF THE NORTENT VERN 1 PC
- Nortent have used a fabric that takes the best from two worlds, with the great properties of synthetic fabric and the great properties of cotton. With this Hybrid fabric consisting of polyester and cotton, Nortent present a strong, breathable and relatively light fabric, compared to a 100% cotton canvas. This means that you can still pack the tent into the backpack, with the breathable and insulating properties of a cotton tent.
- To prevent the polycotton fabric from absorbing dirt and moisture from the ground, Nortent have installed a very robust nylon section at the very bottom of the tent. This is able to withstand a rougher treatment where you may load it with snow and stones to make the tent even more stable in inclement weather.
- Vern 1 PC has a total of 3 poles that crosses at different points.

Again, due to the thickness of the fly, we were expecting it to be difficult to pack this thing back in the small stuff sack the morning after – especially considering it seemed like it might have absorbed some water. The NORTENT Vern 1 PC is a sturdy and well-designed solo tent that stands out for its durability and comfort in a range of conditions. At Valley and Peak, we appreciate its clever use of polycotton fabric, which breathes well and reduces condensation, making it especially comfortable for longer trips and damp climates.
Unlike many tents, the Vern 1 PC uses a single-layer polycotton flysheet with no inner tent, simplifying setup and improving airflow. This design keeps the interior feeling fresh and reduces the typical dampness that can build up overnight in the UK.
The tent is reinforced with Dyneema in key areas, adding strength without too much extra weight. While it’s not the lightest tent out there, the trade-off is a shelter that feels solid and secure, capable of handling tougher weather and wind.
Setup is straightforward once you’re used to it, typically taking around 2 to 3 minutes. Inside, the footprint comfortably fits a standard sleeping mat and enough space for gear storage. The vestibule is practical for keeping boots and kit dry and sheltered.
