THE ORTLIEB SEAT PACK QUICK REALISE IS QUICKLY AND SECURELY MOUNTED AS JUST AS SPEEDILY REMOVED

Whether you’re riding singletrack, mountain passes or gravel routes, with the waterproof Seat-Pack QR you are ready for every bike adventure. Thanks to the unique Seat-Lock attachment system, the Seat-Pack QR is quickly and securely mounted and just as speedily removed, completely residue-free.  An adapter even enables the use of a dropper post, making the innovative Seat-Pack QR suitable for a variety of bikes.

FEATURES OF THE ORTLIEB SEAT PACK QR

  • The internal reinforcement and five compression straps ensure that the contents are packed tightly and securely.

  • A valve with a handle strap helps to compress the pack volume, and the elastic cord on the outside allows for the attachment of additional gear.

  • To prevent damage from tire contact, a protective plate is attached to the underside of the Seat-Pack QR, which also doubles as a fender.

  • Our reflector ensures added visibility and safety

  • A daisy chain allows for the attaching of a rear light
  • What we think

We tested the Ortlieb QR 13L Seat-Pack on an off-road ride recently, and it’s safe to say this is one of the most stable seat packs we’ve ever used. Once it's mounted, it becomes a solid extension of your bike - no sway, no bounce, no need to retighten mid-ride, even when things got quite rough!

The Seat-Lock system is designed for round metal saddle rails (not carbon), and it clicks securely into place with minimal fuss. You just guide the bag under the saddle, flick down the locking levers until they snap shut, and secure the seatpost strap. That’s it. You’re good to go in under a minute. It was a little faffy the first time, but it quickly becomes second nature.

Definitely check whether your saddle rails are compatible - definitely worth a look before purchase. You’ll need specific clearance behind the clamp and under the rails, but most standard saddles will work fine. The width is easy enough to measure, though figuring out the rail angle is a bit trickier without calipers or a good eye.

Once attached, the bag holds its shape beautifully. The roll-top closure is waterproof, spacious, and easy to access thanks to Ortlieb’s clever air release valve - just squeeze the air out as you compress the bag, and you can cinch it down tightly with the side straps. The orange rear strap loops through a daisy chain system, which is reflective and also keeps everything neatly tucked away. There's even a little Velcro keeper at the end to stop any rogue strap flapping.

The top bungee system is handy for stashing lightweight extras like a jacket, but it’s removable if you prefer a cleaner look. For those with dropper posts, Ortlieb includes a dedicated clamp that fits snugly around the top of the post. It sacrifices about 4.3cm of travel, but the trade-off is well worth it - you get full dropper functionality without worrying about damaging your post or the pack wagging with every descent.

  • Compatibility

Check if your saddle is compatible before purchase with the below guidelines:

    1. The saddle rails must have a bend of at least 34°.

    2. The seat post clamp must be at least 13 mm from the middle of the bend in the saddle rail. There must also be at least 13 mm from the middle of the bend to where the rail connects to the back of the saddle.

    3. The bottom edge of the saddle (at the side) must be at least 14 mm higher than the bottom edge of the saddle rail.

THE FOLLOWING PRODUCTS ARE NOT SUITABLE:
+ Saddles with carbon fibre rails

    + Suspension seat posts

+ Saddles with unusual saddle rails e.g. SQLab Active, Brooks B67 (see point 2 above)

+ Electronic dropper posts e.g. Rock Shox AXS or Magura Vyron

If you still have problems mounting the Seat Pack QR for the first time, try moving the Seat Lock System as far forward on the bag as possible and loosen the bolts to find a fitting position. This is the easiest position for initial mounting – you can then adjust the position for the best fit. The fitting instructions have further information and tips.
