Sea to Summit Alto TR2 2 Person Backpacking Tent
THE SEA TO SUMMIT ALTO TR2 REDEFINES THE BACKPACKING EXPERIENCE
Alto TR2 two person is a semi-freestanding tent perfect for weight-conscious backpackers who still want a high degree of liveability in their shelter.
The revolutionary Tension Ridge architecture of the Alto allows for taller oversized doors and vertical walls that create an unrivalled amount of space. Apex Vents positioned at the highest point of the tent effectively expel moist air and minimise condensation, and the variable rainfly can be rolled back on both sides for stargazing, then deployed quickly from inside the tent.
‘Alto’ is the Italian word for ‘high’. One night will prove that the Alto is a level above other ultralight tents.
FEATURES OF THE ALTO TR2 2 PERSON BACKPACKING TENT

What we think
During our recent team campout in the Peak District, the Sea to Summit Alto TR2 quickly stood out as a real game-changer in the world of ultralight backpacking tents. Thanks to its patent-pending Tension Ridge Architecture, the Alto offers a level of space and comfort that’s hard to find in a tent this lightweight. The upward-cantilevered crossbar creates near-vertical walls and a high ceiling, giving it an airy, spacious feel that made our nights far less claustrophobic than most backpacking tents. The inner boasts a great amount of headroom, feeling less claustrophobic than most backpacking tents.
That innovative design brings plenty of other perks too: high doors for easy entry and exit, large vestibules for gear storage, and excellent climate control thanks to oversized Apex Vents that help keep condensation at bay. We also loved the illuminating Lightbar feature - just pop in your headlamp, and the whole tent glows with a soft, ambient light.
Weighing in at just 1.15kg with ultralight DAC poles and lightweight fabrics, the Alto TR2’s weight can be split into three separate storage bags - perfect for sharing the load on longer treks. With five versatile setup options to adapt to different weather conditions, this tent proved perfect for wild camping in the warmer months. If you’re after one of the best two-person backpacking tents out there, the Alto TR2 is hard to beat. -
