In 1983, Heidi and Andi Brun founded Exped AG as a distributor for many iconic brands in the outdoor industry. In 1997, driven by friends and new ideas, EXPED launched its own products and transitioned from distributor to manufacturer.

They journeyed to northern Canada with minimal supplies and built a log cabin using only a hatchet and saw blade. Their encounters with bears and the challenge of living off the land near the Arctic Circle forged their skills as innovators. After nine months, they dismantled their cabin, leaving no trace behind.
