LifeStraw Peak Series Solo Straw Water Filter
ULTRA LIGHTWEIGHT AND COMPACT PORTABLE WATER FILTRATION DEVICE
LifeStraw Peak Series Solo Water Filter is an ultra-lightweight (only 48g), compact (just 5.1”), portable water filtration device that removes bacteria, parasites, microplastics, silt, sand, and cloudiness from drinking water.
The standard 28mm threading on the filter allows it to be screwed onto most common water bottles. The one-handed flip cap makes on-the-go filtration super easy and fast: fill up a 1L bottle in just 20 seconds. Great for hiking, backpacking, camping, emergency situations, travel or on-the-go needs. At less than 50g, and 2,000L of clean drinking water, no backpack, pocket, emergency bag, or glove compartment should be without one.

What we think
On our last trip to the Lake District, the LifeStraw Peak Series Solo turned out to be an absolute game-changer. This ultralight, super-compact water filter fits into the side pocket of my hiking trousers. It’s smaller and lighter than LifeStraw’s classic Personal Water Filter Straw, making it perfect for weight-conscious backpackers, bikepackers, and fastpackers.
Using the Solo couldn’t be easier. Just pop off the top cap, unscrew the bottom cover, dip the end into a water source and drink straight through it. You can also fill a standard disposable bottle, screw the filter on top, flip it over, and either drink directly from the filter or pour the clean water into another container. It’s impressively fast too – filtering a litre of water takes just 20 seconds.
Of course, no system is perfect. Like most water filters, the Solo handles bacteria and particulates well, but it doesn’t remove waterborne viruses. Also, the bottom cover isn’t attached to the unit, so you’ll want to be careful not to lose it.
The filter has a lifespan of around 2,000 litres (528 gallons), and when it reaches capacity, the whole unit needs to be replaced. That said, it’s very reasonably priced compared to other systems, especially purifiers.
The Solo doesn’t come with a bottle, but its thread fits most standard screwtop bottles. If you prefer an all-in-one option, you could go for the LifeStraw Peak Series Squeeze Bottle, which has the same filtration system built into a soft bottle. Both versions include a backwashing syringe to keep the filter clean and working efficiently. -
