"Super fast set up with single pole teepee style, partnered with the rain fly and ground cover it was a perfect addition to our adventure racing bin w/o adding significant weight. User error resulted in the wind ripping the stakes out of the ground during an unexpected storm, but again, the ease of resetting the tent was so quick hardly any rain got into the tent. Plenty of room for gear to stow out of the elements with 2 people inside."

WHAT WE THINK
If you’re looking to step up from just the tarp and want more protection, especially from insects, this mesh inner is a solid choice. The setup was easy—once we had the tarp up, it was a quick job to clip in the mesh inner. The result was a more enclosed space that felt much more like a proper shelter.
The mesh inner does exactly what it promises: it keeps the bugs out. In areas with midges, like we encountered near some of the riverbanks, it was a lifesaver. Without it, we would've been swarmed, but with the mesh inner in place, we could relax without worrying about being eaten alive. It also offered more privacy, which was a nice touch, and kept the interior free of dirt and debris, making it feel like a much more comfortable and protected space to sleep.
All in all, the Gold Camp UL3 Mesh Inner is a fantastic addition if you want to make your tarp setup feel a bit more like a traditional shelter. It’s perfect for keeping bugs at bay and adding some privacy. For summer trips or mild conditions it’s a great way to up your comfort without compromising too much on weight. -
